It was a relatively high-scoring weekend for the SMAAAHL with only three of the 13 games played ending with five or fewer goals. The Notre Dame Hounds won three of their games last week: 5-1 against the Saskatoon Blazers, 8-2 against the Moose Jaw Generals, and 5-4 against the Battlefords Stars, but lost 4-2 against the Saskatoon Contacts. These three wins give the Hounds a 14-7-1 record giving them 29 points. The Hounds, Prince Albert Mintos, Moose Jaw Generals, and Yorkton RawTec Maulers are all tied for second place with 29 points. The Regina Pat Canadians are in first place with 30 points.
There were three shutouts last week: the Notre Dame Argos defeated the Saskatoon Blazers 2-0, the Saskatoon Blazers then defeated the Swift Current Legionnaires 2-0, and the Saskatoon Contacts defeated the Swift Current Legionnaires 6-0.
Damian Bentz from the Maulers leads the league in points with 16 goals and 12 assists earning him 28 points. Bentz’s 16 goals puts him tied with Riley Sawchuk from the Prince Albert Mintos for goals, and Ty Barnstable from the Regina Pat Canadians is tied with Erik Hardiner from the Prince Albert Mintos for the most assists with 19 each.
