The eight teams from the Nova Scotia Eastlink Major Midget Hockey League used the preseason to collect donations for Ryan Shay.
Ryan is a former South Shore Mustang who was left paralyzed after a car accident in 2013. Ryan’s goal is now set on competing in the 2016 Paralympics in Brazil but to get there it will require a custom built wheelchair at the cost of $6,000.
Teams of the Nova Scotia Eastlink Major Midget Hockey League donated preseason admissions, 50/50 draws or made a cash contribution to the total of $2100.
Prior to the September 13th game between the Charlie's Pizza South Shore Mustangs and Halifax McDonalds, Ryan was presented a cheque by Mustangs' President Lionel Haughn and former South Shore (now current Halifax) head coach Tim Boyce. Tim was Ryan's coach during his playing days with the Mustangs.
The Nova Scotia Eastlink Major Midget Hockey League would like to thank their fans and organizations for their donations of this worthy cause.
